Summer Training for Programmers



Who: Geared for current and future programmers. Must bring 1 robot for a maximum of every 2 programmers.


What: Training classes and homework assignments taught by our fabulous FTA, AJ, & guest presenters, on the following topics: 


1. Electronics (must bring one on robot)

  1. REV Expansion Hub (available May 10th through the FIRST storefront or the Rev Robotics website)  OR
  2. Modern Robotics Inc (MRI) Modules (from FIRST website the past two years)

2. Motor Encoders (must bring one on robot- usually purchased with the motors)


3. Touch Sensor (must bring one on robot)

  1. Rev Robotics comes in the FIRST Kit of Parts this year starting May 10th OR
  2. MRI Touch Sensor (Came with the FIRST Kit of Parts last year and the year before)

4. Color Sensor (must bring one on robot)

  1. Rev Robotics comes in the FIRST Kit of Parts this year starting May 10th OR
  2. MRI Color Sensor –(Came with the FIRST Kit of Parts last year and the year before)

5. Modern Robotics IR Seeker V.3 (Came with the FIRST Kit of Parts last year and the year before)

6. IMU from the Rev Robotics Expansion Hub (If you are using the modern robotics modules you may either partner up with a friend or be released early from that class)


7. Vuforia

When: 6 Saturdays in June & July - 6/10, 6/17, 6/24, 7/8, 7/15, 7/22


Check in at 8:45 AM. PLEASE BE SURE all the pre-class homework is complete, so you are not responsible for delaying the start of the class.

Class ends at 3:00 pm.

How: RSVP by email to [email protected] NO LATER THAN MAY 26TH with the following information. 


Please note you MUST RSVP and bring your confirmation and you must complete your PRE-CLASS homework which you will find here https://ftc-tricks.com/tesla/pre-homework.html



  • Team Number & Team Name
  • First names of your students attending
  • First names of adult chaperones - does not need to be a coach, just a responsible adult

  • Number of pushbots/robots or equivalent your team is bringing (At least one robot per two students)
  • Which electronic system do you have installed on your robot(s) (RevRobotics Hub or Modern Robotics Modules)
  • Which touch sensor do you have installed on your robot(s) (RevRobotics or Modern Robotics)
  • Which color sensor do you have installed on your robot(s) (RevRobotics or Modern Robotics)

  • Email address(es) you want the pre-class homework sent to
  • We will send you confirmation that we have reserved the seats for your team along with all of the “prep” work (robot, SDK, sensors, etc). First come; first served. 

 

Cost: Free for Tesla Robotics League teams as part of your League Dues. $50 for out of League Teams.



Lunch: On your own, but we do have some recommendations

    • Personal pizza place: 404 E Central Blvd, Orlando, FL 32801
Those two options are within a block of each other and within walking distance if the weather cooperates.


Exact time for lunch will depend on class progress. Goal is to stop for an hour lunch sometime between 11:30 and noon.
